Accounting Supervisor

 

JOB SUMMARY: The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for all Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable areas relating to financial reporting and will manage day to day financial operations. This position will be responsible for day to day application of accounting policies and procedures based on general accepted accounting principles and ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position addresses a multitude of accounting activities including supporting preparation for month closing ,daily cash financial reporting, year-end audit preparation.The Accounting Supervisor  will have contact with plant managers and executive members, which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • General Ledger and Close Process

    • Responsible for managing the accounting function, which includes cash management/reconciliation, supporting month end financial reporting, balance sheet management(including inventory, prepaid accounts, fixed assets including tooling and equipment, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accruals, etc.)

    • Supporting of Month-end closing preparation to ensure accurate and timely reporting of A/P, A/R and cash monthly financial information, year-end close processes, (i.e. supporting in preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and roll-forward schedules) for the annual financial audit.

    • Coordinating the fixed asset monthly depreciation posting, variances, roll-forward, recording of additions, disposals, transfers, etc.

    • Prepare and post journal entries based on review of supporting reconciliations and schedules.

    • Reconcile Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable agings.

    • Review AP reports and general ledger detail for coding discrepancies and propose re-classes as needed.

    • Support for compilation, entry and posting monthly journal entries to the G/L.

    • Support the A/R, A/P and cash accounts analyze, accruals, and trial balance accounts reconciliation to assure compliance with internal procedures and GAAP.

    • Responsible for analysis of pre-paid, accruals.

    • Managing and overseeing the daily operations of the two staff accounting department

    • Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine A/P, A/R and cash accounting transactions

    •   Treasury

      • Responsible for daily and monthly bank reconciliation, daily bank activity, checks and electronic payment upload in ERP system.

      • Prepare reports for daily/monthly line of credit activity.

      • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of positive pay transactions

      •   Tax, Audit and Regulatory Compliance

        • Supporting the completion of Federal and State tax reporting requirements, insurance reports and other reports required by government regulation. Coordinates with the Controller for preparation of tax related issues and meeting reporting requirements

        • Supporting the preparation for annual audits

        • Support management team with ad hoc and special projects

        • Monitor and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy

        • Manage, train and mentor accounting staff and ensure they have the capabilities and support to meet departmental objectives

        • Promote and maintain a safe work environment

        • Perform other analysis, special projects, and other duties as necessary.

        • Assure all relevant documents are prepared and retained to company standards.Participate in total quality management projects to achieve continuous improvement.

          • Maintain an acceptable attendance record.

          • Comply with all company safety rules and policies.

          • Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace










 

OTHER DUTIES


  • Will be safety conscious and put safety first.

  • Operate and maintain general office equipment (computer, copier, printer, fax, etc.) and order supplies (paper, toner, etc.) as needed.

    • Report any equipment or facility defect(s) to supervisor.

    • Ensure any accident or injury is promptly reported.




 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (if any)


  • Two staff accountants


 

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and/or Experience


  • AA degree in Accounting/Finance strongly preferred or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance.

  • Must have a minimum of 3-5 years- experience in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, general Accounting experience preferably in manufacturing industry.

  • Solid understanding of GAAP.

  • Solid knowledge of sales tax procedure and reporting

  • Strong experience in A/P, A/R and Fixed Assets

  • Prior supervisory experience is preferable
