Our client is one of the world’s leaders in the fuel market, fuel procurement, management and transportation.
They are looking for an
Environmental Health & Safety
to be based in their Carson, CA location.
This person will also be responsible for Environmental, Health, Safety & Regulatory Compliance of company’s terminaling and pipeline operations in Long Beach and Carson, California.
This person will also be responsible for
Environmental, Health, Safety & Complianceand reporting of same to regulatory bodies and parent company executives.
Design of Environmental, Health, Safety & Compliancepolicies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements.
Work with parent company on EHS & C requirements and sustainability reporting.
Manages Port of Long Beach environmental requirements and reporting.
Play an active role in managing terminaling business working with other managers in EHS&C and good operating practice.
Working with Operations Manager ensure policies and procedures are developed for the operation of terminals and pipelines.
Manage Operator Qualification and Integrity Management Program for pipeline regulators.
Manage waste water system and discharges at Tank Farm.
Manages emergency response and associated training and drills.
Perform root cause analysis to all incidents, including oil spill, EHS related, and all significant near misses.
Renew all business and operational permits and submit all regulatory reports on time.
Manage multiple consultants involved in EHS&C of ongoing operations and new projects.
Optimize pipelines utilization to facilitate new business opportunities, to increase transfer efficiency. Manage pipeline franchises, right of ways and regulatory requirements.
Facilitate and respond to all internal and external audits to ensure no pending or open findings
Learn from other company managers various procedures to facilitate vacation and holidays relief and to gain further experience in company operations.
Other duties as assigned by Head of Terminals.
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or Environmental Science, Chemistry or related discipline and five years of related experience in petroleum, chemical or related industries.
Petroleum or Chemical Process Industry:
Significant experience in the petroleum or chemical processing industry with exposure to Environmental, Health, Safety, Regulatory compliance including issues associated with air pollution, water pollution, oil spill response, emergency response and preparedness
Understanding of technical aspects of petroleum products and petroleum handling and logistics.
Past engineering experience on projects or process type work.
Ability to manage complex and varied regulatory reporting requirements of both projects and day to day activities
Chemical Engineering degree
Prior management position with Environmental, Health, Safety, Regulatory compliance responsibility
Supervisory operational experience
Knowledge of liquid terminaling business

Ability to handle multiple assignments
Ability to work independently
Ability to think “outside the box”
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio)
AutoCAD, P&ID, PSM/RMP

Root Cause Analysis
Work predominantly at a workstation in the company’s office
Field work on a regular basis inside the terminal, out on pipelines and at dock.
Flexible schedule may be required to meet deadlines
Interacts often with co-workers and suppliers
